As vezes eu olho pro mundo
''Servo bom e fiel, entra no descanso do teu Senhor''

Alguns pensamentos 27-06-2015

Nostalgia.
;)

Oranges, apples and why sustainability is not exciting: reflection 17-06-2015
When I was at Germany I eat oranges always to remember home and always refuse to eat the apples. Everything in Germany is about apples. Pie, juice, apple of apple. Today I found an apple on my fridge, and I just loved eat it again. In other hand, I do not like oranges here anymore...
I was reflecting about how issues have an impact on who I am. Being at UWC, seing passionate people embracing their own perspective how to change the world. One's embracing the minoritys, LGBT's, racial, other the enviromental issues, etc. All to make the earth a better place. As a christian, I believe that world will pass away, but It doesen't mean I shouldn't seek for changes or improvement. I will not just wash my hand and expect the worst come.
At my UWC we discuss a lot about sustainability and everything which concern about it. Of course we envolve global, political and other themes which are so important for develop a sustainable world as well. And I do think we need to idealize a world strongly follower of ''political righteneouss'', because maybe the voice is spread easily than just in case we have a ''shy scream'' of the winds of change.
That time in Brazil everrthing seems come up again. When I was in Europe one of the things was always coming to my mind was the way how the world perceive the brazilian people. There's a lot of steriotipes about us. Sportive, party, beachs. happy, carnaval, football, Samba, butt! And I don't know how, but all the time the female sterotipe we have was screaming at my mind and I get tired of it. Tired to see how the media just use us as an object while the man are the consumer of it. How it is rooted in our society. I wouldn't say Europe it doesen't existe. It does. But al least there I could dress how I feel like dressing without expect disgusting coments. At least there I could walk at the strees without being harassed for a policeman and a truck drive between the first 10 minutes when I leave my house as happened with me last Saturday. There I saw my host mom and dad, both cooperating to wash the dishes and clean the house and cook. I am tired of our machist culture.
And there's the aim of what I am writing here. Not to talk about sexism but about what alive our inner feelings. What make us angry. What are the white elephants we have inside which annoy us.
I was comparing that with the purpose of our school: sustainability. Does sustainability make us evoque our most angry feelings about something?
I am sorry if I am just an ignorant person and probably I am. But talk about statistics and numbers, talk about how how we should take care about vegetables and even about save the ''pandas'' -because they are cute- or raising campaings like ''love the animals, don't eat them'', etc aren't so exciting. Usually we are just thinking about sustainability as: economize energy, don't waist food and-or water. And we are aware it will afect the health and people can -yes-lost their lifes because the abuses we have made with our enviromental. But even knowing all of it, seems like it is just one more information. Talk about sustainability is organic and not relative as one discussion about gender or racism or religion, which arouse feelings of empath or non-empath from people.
Even Selina -from Marshall Islands- great friend of mine, she always talk about the impact of climate change on her land. People be attemptive to that ''green issues'' since: ''-Kill people? Let's talk about it!''
Without a real love for nature is difficult to be really excited about sustainability, that's the true.
Come back to Brazil makes me care againg about that topic people in Germany should know more. Haha. The ''oranges'' are the ''female objetification issues'' I started to appreciate more when I was there. The ''apples'' are the sustainability topic, the one englobes the context of our school and the one
I started to be more concern now!
That crazy sensation UWC ideology is like an echo that follow we always.
The question remains open:
''What is the way to think about sustainability as we think about apatheid, for example?''

Back home 27-05-2015

The google browser still says I'm in Deutschland. But Thaiza
is starting to realize she got home. A lot of times she think in English and
construct sentences in English. Thaiza laughs as it reminds all times in the
beginning of the UWC experience when she was trying to construct sentences in
English and not in Portuguese and now have to do all the reverse process.
Thaiza is still feeling not only the weather, but the
environment. It is noticing that some furniture moved, but maybe that's why the
word for this sort of thing is '' mobile '', because it can change at any
time.* Thaiza begin to see the deeper meaning of words and things to say. What
about the things that did not move?
The family that received warmly. The family was hoping all
along since the beginning. The family that when gather together speaks at least
two tons more than the human ear can endure. The family that is spontaneous of
spirit and full of love. The family that surprised Thaiza once many of them
looked younger and happier than the last time I saw them. But nothing was more
shocking to see the '' small ''. The little that is no longer small. He grow so
much. Five years that has grown so much in 10 months. So smart. So beautiful.
Marquinhos <3 Do not scare Thaiza thereby never ever again.
Thaiza eat feijoada, with Rice recently squishy out the fire
and a fried egg. Thaiza felt in heaven.
Thaiza was tired so went to sleep. Thaiza woke up a few
minutes ago and saw her sister sleeping on your side. Thaiza cried again with
joy. Only to see that face again.
Thaiza get up and decided to go upstairs to write. She was
feeling a lot of things in a short period of time.
Thaíza notice more diferent furnitures. Thaiza saw her
mother on the sofa reading as it usually did before going. Thaiza heard the song
of the birds that had ceased to listen for 10 months. Thaiza need to look out
the window and firmly rub your eyes to believe it was through this window that
looked weeks ago when he tried to imagine a new life in Germany. When eagerly
spoke for whatsapp with future colleagues and tried to understand how would
this new world.
Thaiza not yet got used to the climate. Too hot. She feels
that will melt every time.
Thaiza is also surprised by the trees. They are so
different. But she loves the same.
Thaiza is happy and there will feel a little bit more.
*’’Móvel’’ is the literal translation of the furniture for
Portuguese.

Sorry.

I have a lot to do. But first I want to collect my impressions about the last two days. Actually I still need to finish to write about what happened las weekend when we had futball match and after we had one guy who do activist based on paints. So cool!! We had a whole workshop jut to try to figure our what he was trying to say using his images. Well, I am gona do a individual post just to explain better how that one works.
Remember when I said people who playied against us in Bosch Stifftung invite us for a dinner? (did I say that?) Anyways... We could not go last Sunday but we was luckely ''re-invited'' and we went yesterday. Was so nice. Paulina, our dear FSA, bake a cake for them. Freiburg is a such cousing city. I always new that, but I think yesterday I had that ideia more solidy in my mind. Going to their house I meet the same guy biking I met at Kebab House days ago which one helped to buy the Kebab, once the seller didnt speak any english. They prepared so many breads with a delicious cover with meal and vegetables. Afterwords we went to one space to play ball two minutes faraway from the house, closed to one big church -I do not know the name, just the one a usualy see when I am going to CAS. We played volleyball until meet some guy who was playing basketball alone and he invite us to join him as well. We played and after come back to play volleyball againg. Now with him. And finally we played futball. Was crazy. All the time was raining so badly and I borrowed Selina's book without she knows that... Hhaha Soo... It get a bit distroyed afterwords...
We come back to have some desert and played games until 15 minutes to check in. Was a really really great time!!
I enjoy it so badly :)
And how before the meal they prayed, I felt confortable to ask their religion. They are protestant and invite me to go to church today!! :)
Nice people! Are at my list to invite to our Theatre performance in the end of his term.
I am gonna miss eversing thing here at Freiburg, I swear... That little and happy moments are always the best ones. Always the one that builds the UWC experience.
